in Artist Profiles

My academic journey in the United Kingdom, California, New York, Russia, Japan, and Korea has led me to pursue a deeper study within Korean popular performance. I studied Ballet (BA) at Pusan National University. I took ballet lessons at Novosibirsk Ballet School in Russia and the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. I studied Dance Theory in MA at the Korea National University of Arts. After graduated MA, I studied at the University of California, Los Angeles as an international student for one year. In 2009-2010, I studied Orientalism, globalization, and nationalism within Asian diaspora dances, particularly South Asian and Korean dances, in MA at the University of Surrey. Currently, I am doing Ph D in Media and Cultural studies at the University of Sussex and my research focuses on Transnational Flows in Korean Popular Performances such as Musical Dance-theatre and Music Video Dance (Screen Dance).
